Summary of SambaXP 2009 by the chairman John H. Terpstra

SambaXP2009 has come and gone - another very successful event. The SambaXP organizers would sincerely like to thank all those who attended this year's event - we understand that in difficult economic times it is particularly difficult to find funding to attend to conferences. Also, our gratitude and thanks to those who worked behind the scenes to make this event possible.

SambaXP2009 was a scaled-down conference in terms of numbers of attendees, but the atmosphere was still charged with enthusiasm and forward-thinking positivity. The sessions were very well attended and the level of attendee interaction with the speakers and with each other set a new record that demonstrated the value of being able to leverage the knowledge of peers and developers alike.

A number of new members were welcomed to the Samba Team. Congratulations to Bo Yang and Björn Jacke. Karolin Seeger also received recognition for the exceptional work she is doing to manage the Samba release process.

Last, but not least, conference interaction and Samba Team discussions were able to formalize exciting forward release plans for the next year.

Be sure to attend the next action-packed event and we look forward to meeting our friends and supporters again in 2010. Have a good year, and may the sun brighten your way and may the wind be always to your back.
